At times, the ball must roll over stacked wooden crates to ascend. In other challenges, you might need to guide the ball onto a rooftop or use the roof of a car as a landing spot. Ordinary residential areas are transformed into parts of an obstacle course.
To navigate the terrain and reach the space vortex, you must calculate your rolling direction, account for slopes, and time your bounces so that each movement sets up the next.
A standout feature of Only Up Balls is its physics engine, which ensures the ball truly reacts to the terrain. When rolling on a sloped surface like a roof or a car top the ball naturally tends to slide downward. To move up a slope, you must actively steer the ball against the incline to maintain your position and ascend.
To reach higher ground, you need to time your bounces precisely. Upon landing, the impact force causes the ball to bounce again, creating a continuous chain of movement. The challenge in Only Up Balls lies not only in avoiding obstacles but also in understanding how the ball reacts to different types of terrain and turning that physics-based movement to your advantage as you climb.
While the arrows along the path indicate the direction of your goal, you must still actively manage the ball's movement to actually get there. The path might take you across a sloping roof, a car roof, or a series of wooden crates, and each surface affects how the ball moves.
When you need to ascend to a higher point, you cannot simply let the ball roll freely in the direction of the arrow; if the terrain slopes downward, you must steer the ball against the incline. To clear large gaps, time your jumps carefully and capitalize on the bounce upon landing.
